Mayor's Office, Innovation Delivery Team (i-team), in partnership with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Personnel Department, and the Mayor's Office of Public Safety, reformed the LAPD's recruiting and hiring practices through the use of data-driven behavioral science. These services are provided through Behavioral Insights Team (BIT), a social purpose company focused on helping organizations around the world apply behavioral insights in support of social purpose goals, and critically, to evaluate what works best in achieving social impact. The i-team seeks the following deliverables: (1) Increase the number and diversity of applicants, (2) Reduce the number of candidates who drop-out of the hiring process, and (3) Increase the number of participants in the Candidate Assistance Program (CAP).
